5K District Initiative Events
Impact visits local high schools for half-day college readiness events. Typically the entire junior class attend the events. At the discretion of the counselors senior and/or sophomore level students may also attend. Teachers bring their entire class to the assembly. During the three hour period, information on the college selection, admissions and financial aid process is covered. As an added perk for students, admissions and/or financial aid professionals from a wide variety of local and out-of-state colleges are invited to participate. Representatives have the opportunity to speak directly to students and answer questions.
Hiring an Education Consultant can be very costly. Many families do not have the discretionary income to provide this elite service for their teen. As a solution, our College Coaching program offers 30-minute coaching session via phone or Skype to parents and students. College Coach assistance may include, but are not limited to: College Matching, Admission Essay Topics, College Admissions Action Plan, College Interview Preparation, Letters of Recommendation, College Resume Building Scholarship Search and Financial Aid Advice.

All Events are free of charge and open to the public. We are focusing our efforts on impacting change at the community level. The largest event is the Annual College Readiness Summit. This event is unique in that we network with local counselors from various Chicago-land high schools to refer their students to participate. Teachers, counselors, administrators and community leaders are encouraged to attend. At the event students and parents hear practical tips on college planning. The following is covered: college selection, admission and financial aid process. College Affiliates serve as resource exhibitors and guest panelist. This is a great event for parents and college bound students to attend. Location: Tinley Park Convention Center. The annual event takes place the last Saturday in July from 12-3pm.
